Amy grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, and has been living and working in London since September 2007. Her background combines impressive academic, research and corporate exposure.
Amy completed her Masters Degree in Economics whilst taking a senior role in a large-scale socio-economic panel study of youth in the Cape Town metropolis – the Cape Area Panel Study (CAPS). Her particular specialism was with ensuring excellent data quality and as such her influence ranged from the field team operations to the final coding and cleaning. She is extremely well versed in STATA and therefore is an incredibly valuable resource for our clients to conference with.
Commercially Amy has worked at the Royal Bank of Scotland as a business analyst and also in a similar role with the addition of external client-facing consultancy work at Datalytics Limited whereby the client data required attention from her proven analytical skills.
Her blend of experience and strong attention to detail makes Amy a natural choice to advise our clients through all stages of their project.
Lindsey Roots - Research Consultant
Lindsey graduated with a degree in Economics from the London School of Economics. Pursuing her interest in development economics further, she then studied for a Master’s in Applied Economics at the University of Cape Town where she was extensively involved in the survey-based evaluation of an NGO programme across South Africa.
Lindsey had a significant role to play in this large-scale project; not least in the design and programming of survey modules as well as first-hand experience of interview field work. This included handling multi-mode data collection as both CAPI and PAPI methods were used. She was also responsible for large parts of the data processing and analysis for the evaluation and is adept in the use of Stata.
Additionally Lindsey has experience conducting behavioural economics experiments, the field of her Master’s dissertation research.
Lindsey has worked previously as a Research Assistant to researchers at both the London School of Economics and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Outside of an academic context she has experience writing reports for both the International Development Research Centre and the UK Government Economic Service.
Andreas Kutka - Team Leader
Andreas has a wealth of knowledge in the field of development economics culminating in his Masters qualification from the University of Oxford, UK.
He is extensively travelled and has been engaged in numerous assignments whilst undertaking a variety of roles in Africa, Europe and South America. One of his more interesting roles included tracking herd histories and lineage of livestock owned by rural farmers in Ethiopia. More recently he has recently played a leading role in the successful scoping, preparation and launch of some large-scale health impact surveys in East Africa working alongside stakeholders such as the World Bank (LSMS) and Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI).
Andreas is adept at crafting CAPI style questionnaires and is an accomplished trainer, enabling his skills to be passed to clients. His proficiency; aligned with his affable nature ensures he is a valuable person to have around during field work.
