Surveybe implementer has been specifically designed with mobile computers in mind. It can be used on any computer, laptop, netbook, touch screen or tablet PC that runs the Windows (xp and above) operating system. As the market for mobile computers in moving fast, we do not recommend or provide any one model. We can however discuss with you what options might be suitable for your survey.

As a guide we recommend a minimum specification to run the implementer:

• At least 40 GB hard drive
• Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 pro* operating system.
• At least 1 GB of memory for XP or 2 GB for Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8
• A processor speed of at least 1.66 Ghz

We are often asked for recommendations regarding hardware units.  We don't specify a particular unit but have several different options that have been used within our work or that of clients.  We regularly field test units that appear to be ideally suited to CAPI projects.  

Additionally the greatest decision to make is over the type of hardware unit to choose.  Typically this choice falls into two categories : Netbooks (including convertible netbooks) and pure tablet PC's.

With the right technical specification both are good options but factors such as: weight, durability, battery life (and recharging provisions), stylus or touch screen sensitivity and keyboard preferences should be considered.
